Girls holding sanitary kits at the Menstrual Health & Hygiene Project launch
Launched December 2025

Menstrual Health & Hygiene Project

In December 2025, The Cairo Initiative launched its first-ever project focusing on menstrual health and hygiene. We recognized that many young girls and women face challenges around access to sanitary products, education on menstrual hygiene, and cultural taboos that keep them from living with dignity and confidence.

Through this project, we:

  • Educated girls and women on safe menstrual practices
  • Distributed sanitary kits to those in need
  • Created open conversations to break the stigma surrounding menstruation
